This was produced in a single sitting at a Thursday night open figure drawing group I used to meet with. I didn’t know it at the time but the model was going through the loss of her father when she posed for this. The emotion somehow comes across even though I was unaware of what was on her mind.

Stephen, you’ve created a little masterpiece there. You’ve caught emotion and character through the medium of paint and it looks like you did it quickly- wet on wet oil correct? I’m guessing it was finished in a sitting- is that true? How long did it take you? I’m curious because I’m just beginning Oil. Thanks for any help Stephen. I am a big fan of your great work.
PS- Nice nipple! It looks ‘sad’ =)
Thanks for a great comment! Yes, it’s wet in wet, a single sitting. It was a lucky night and it took me less than three hours. I’m incredibly thankful for your fanship!

Yes your painting here is beautiful. Its one of my favorites of late.
Sweet! You make it look so easy. It’s all there. Nothing left out. I just want to tell her everything is going to be fine. You’ve made me feel for her. Isn’t that what it’s about? Cool!
Thanks Don! The model is a student of mine, an excellent artist herself. Interesting that the emotion came across, as she was coping with the loss of her father at the time.
This is VERY good, Stephen! The highlights are excellent and you’ve done an amazing job of capturing the young woman’s expression of uneasiness. Thank you for this…made my day!

Double thanks Scott, couldn’t you just eat the internet for dinner?!
