The title refers to the little parachutes of dandelion seeds. They are called pappi (plural of pappus). Papi is also what children in Germany, like my Mom, call their Dads.

I drew a lot of inspiration for this painting from old black and white films, and the dramatic contrast of black and white.

It’s from Peter Gorski’s 1960 film version of Goethe’s ‘Faust’.
