In the inner cities they’re call them “Mushrooms” – the innocent children victims of gang violence. In our adventures in the Middle East we refer to them as “Collateral Damage.” And yet so sanitized have the wars become that who even gives consistent thought to the fact that they are ongoing? For those of us who can’t forget, the most infuriating aspect of our misadventures are the innocent victims who are the consequences of our actions.

In this painting a box of dolls has fallen off the back of a vehicle in the desert. Fortunately, they are just dolls, but they are intended to be metaphorical stand-ins for children. The doll with the red, white and blue dress lays in a pornographically suggestive state – my comment on our foreign policy that finds us in a place we do not belong.
