I just joined as a member and I’m very pleased to have stumbled upon your work. Thanks for sharing such wonderful images.
Has ancient qualities…some that are worrisome (to me) and reassuringly complicated by the symbolism of hope, of the earth, of being at the beginning of creation, and of the life cycle – fertility, immortality etc. yet also at its end (aided by your cat and the dark)……it’s the darkness and the wonder of the egg juxtaposed and the pear….in one sense I get a bit freaked yet at the same time I marvel at how you do this work…..and what’s behind it all….anyway that is what I get….the work seems complex (to me) and I wonder – is it?

Hi Chad,
The bird I used in this photo I found in my chimney. It was a swallow that had gotten trapped in there and died. I found it when I heard a noise in the chimney and went to check it out. I opened the clean-out door, and a live swallow came flying into the room. I caught it, and when I released it outside, the swallow circled around me three times before flying away. It seems it was trapped with the dead one and may have sensed it’s potential demise….
The swallow in this photograph was a great model for me, I used it quite a bit.
As for the complexity of these images, they seem for me to be very simple. I sit and play with the objects till it feels right, then I photograph…
