Here are the first three prep drawings for The Mistress and Her Donkey. I’m struggling to find the right pose for the donkey, as I already know what I want for the woman.

I see what you mean, but I didn’t know of this painting. He is one of those artists I never cared for, and have actually avoided looking at. This looks like an earlier one, no? Not so saccharine.
