Two extremely rare natural pearls. The were created by the Nautilus, a mollusk of the cephalopoda class found in the Pacific and nearly unchanged for two million years.
The flames you see by looking closely at this image (select to enlarge) are characteristic of Nautilus pearls.
Photographed while they owned to a private collector, they recently changed hands and will be on public display. More on that soon…

Deux perles naturelles extrêmement rares. Elles sont fabriquées par le Nautile, mollusque céphalopode du Pacifique, quasi inchangé depuis des millions d’années.
Les flammes sont un signe caractéristique des perles de nautile.
Photographiées alors qu’elles appartenaient à un collectionneur privé, elles ont récemment changé de main et seront bientôt exposées au public…J’en dirai davantage sous peu.
