Museum friends receive announcements of new additions to the museum and other noteworthy events.
Painting seven in my collection, The Hotel Vide. One very odd thing about this series: it was finished just before 9/11, and some of the content seems almost predictive. In this image (the belongings of a man I envisioned as a New York stock broker) the Wall Street Journal has a headline “Day of Reckoning; Wall Street Plunges,” and a date of September 22nd, a Saturday. This ended up being the day after the lowest point the market hit that year as a result of the attacks. In other words, the headline is dated the same day that stock market loss would have been reported in the next day’s paper. An odd coincidence. When you check that out, notice the sticky remains of the caviar in the can…
