52 y.o. artist. I love portrait painting, landscapes, seascapes, etc. Work with oil on canvas mostly, but I plan on trying other mediums. I always wanted to learn how to paint, but I guess I figured I would not be good at it; at least not good enough to make a living out of it. However as a Hurricane Katrina refugee, I started to rethink my career and life choices and decided life was too short not to work in a field you actually cared about. After relocating, I decided if I had to have degree to acquire a decent job, I should at least learn something I really had an interest in. So, I switched my major to art. Imagine my surprise and happiness to know, I have a knack for capturing the likeness and personality of my subject. In June I will start working on my MFA in fine art/painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. It’s an online course. Recently received BA in 12/2011 and certification to teach art. Now, I just have to find a job. Easy right? ha! ha!
